Give Us Time Holidays - Military Families

You need to get away sometimes. Life is stressful: concerns at work, bills to pay, phone calls to make. Sometimes we need to talk to our spouse about the problems we face. But what if your spouse is away for most of the year and communicating is difficult? What if they are in a situation where they may never come back? Or, if they do, could return with physical or psychological wounds?

That is the situation that many people with significant others in the military have to face. An operational tour can last from three to six months, but in some cases people in the military have to spend most of the year away from their families.

Life at home goes on without them. Children grow up, spouses go through life experiences without their partner. Often, by the time they come home, the family has grown apart and the family dynamic has changed.
Often after months away from home, the family dynamic can change considerably and it can be stressful for both the service personnel and their families to readjust to a life together again, in a domestic situation that may be different to how it was before they left. Give Us Time helps service families reconnect to life after combat and provides them with the chance to spend time together and to reaffirm their family bond.

A respite break can make all the difference in restoring family relationships.

Give us Time was founded by former Defence Minister Liam Fox in 2012. Its mission is to give military families precious time together. The charity recognises the vital role family plays in providing a support system for our brave military personnel. Time together is crucial to strengthen this bond.
Give Us Time takes holidays donated by owners of holiday groups, hotels, holiday homes and timeshares, and matches them with military families in need of rest, rehabilitation and reconnection after tours of duty.

Staffordshire Police - Fraud Alert: 'Something for you' Postal Delivery Cards

Fraud Alert: 'Something for you' Postal Delivery Cards
Your latest Smart Alert.

Residents are being warned about 'something for you' cards arriving through letterboxes designed to look like they have come from Royal Mail.

The cards which lack the Royal Mail logo look almost identical to the 'something for you' slips that are posted through homes when a delivery can't be made.

To organise a re delivery the cards urge recipients to call a 0208 number, which is not registered to Royal Mail. After ringing the number the automated message asks for your details and consignment number.

Customers should check delivery cards very carefully to ensure they are genuine and remain vigilant.  Although this card is similar to the Royal Mail card the Royal Mail logo is crucially missing.

Customers should consider whether they are expecting delivery.  If in doubt, do not call the number provided, give your details or personal information and get in touch with Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.

SSAFA Stepping Stone Homes

SSAFA Stepping Stone Homes based in both the North East and the South of England provide short-term supported accommodation, help and advice to female service or ex-serving personnel, the female spouses or partners of serving or ex-serving personnel, and their dependent children.

FAMCAS The 2017 Families Continuous Attitude Survey

The 2017 Families Continuous Attitude Survey (FAMCAS) provides the opportunity for Army spouses/civil partners to express their views about a range of issues that affect their life as a Service family. The evidence provided by these views is a vital source of information that assists the Army in developing future personnel policy.

To support this process, it is important that the collective views of spouses/civil partners of Officers and Soldiers alike are communicated to the wider Army.
